Ogyre Protocol

The Ogyre Protocol is the certified framework that regulates Ogyre’s Waste Collection Activities and defines how their environmental impact is measured, documented, allocated, and verified.

It establishes the criteria that collection activities must follow to be considered transparent, traceable, environmentally sound, and eligible for Ogyre Verified Waste Collection Credits. The Protocol applies to post-consumer waste and plastic collected from the sea, marine ecosystems, coastal areas, or other environments at high risk of contributing to marine pollution.

The Protocol covers both Ocean Waste Collection Activities, which remove litter already present in marine environments, and Ocean-Bound Waste Collection Activities, which intercept waste before it leaks into the Ocean.

It defines key principles such as additionality, no double counting, best available end-of-life, impact traceability, social impact, do no harm, and verifiability. In this way, the Ogyre Protocol provides a common reference for local partners, brand partners, verification bodies, and other stakeholders involved in Ogyre’s impact system.
